Mrs. Dominguez

Betty Mae Dominguez, 82, of Norfolk, Neb., died on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008.

She was born Sept. 6, 1926, in Norfolk, Neb., to Goldie Duncan and Lester F. Owens. She married Ramon G. Dominguez in Goliad in 1990. She was a member of Skidmore United Methodist Church and had worked in food service at Chase Field Naval Air Station in Beeville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ramon G. Dominguez; and one son, Charles Britz.

Survivors include one stepdaughter, Debbie Dominguez of Corpus Christi; one son, Larry (Lorraine) Britz of League City; one sister, Pat Smelson of Apple Valley, Calif.; and five grandchildren, Layne Britz, Loree Longoria, Bobby Britz, Neal Bradock and Jody Bradock.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Galloway & Sons chapel. Funeral services will be held there at 10 a.m. with Pastor Jason Calvert officiating. Musical selections will be “How Great Thou Art,” “Just A Closer Walk With Thee” and “The Lord’s Prayer.” Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore.

Pallbearers will be Charles, Harry, Albert and Edward Zdanski and Layne Britz.

Mrs. Licona

Consuelo Cantu Licona, 83, of Live Oak County, died on Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, in Three Rivers.

She was born on Feb. 11, 1925, in Coleman to Antonia Esqueda and Jacinto Cantu. She married Herminio Licona in George West on Sept. 14, 1938. She attended Salon Del Rieno in Three Rivers and was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 6, 1999; one daughter, Antonia Martinez; her parents; and two grandchildren, Scotty Licona and Manuel Martinez.

She is survived by four sons, Henry Licona and Salvador (Maria Cruz) Licona, both of Appleton, Wis., David (Gloria) Licona of San Angelo and Ezekiel (Claudia) Licona of San Antonio; three daughters, Lucia (Apolito) Morales of Three Rivers, Adela (Jesus) Trevino of Taft and Juanita (Abdon) Martinez of Beeville; four brothers, Julian Cantu and Leonardo Cantu, both of Mathis, Jose Cantu of San Antonio and Dario Barrera of Houston; two half-brothers, Simon Cantu of Mathis and Jose Cantu of Weslaco; two half-sisters, Susana Hinojosa of Beeville and Linda DeLeon of Mathis; 38 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday)at Galloway & Sons chapel in Three Rivers with a prayer service to be held there at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held there at 11 a.m. Thursday. Interment will follow at Three Rivers Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Christian Licona, Michael Morales, Ruben Martinez, Tony Martinez, Ricardo Trevino and Alfredo Trevino.

Mrs. Martinez

Eva G. Martinez, 79, of Beeville, died on Friday, Sept. 5, 2008.

She was born on May 26, 1929, in Pawnee to Eloisa Perez and Regino Garcia. She married Bernardino Martinez in Beeville on March 13, 1948. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Bernardino G. Martinez and Armando Hernandez; her husband, four sisters, four brothers, her parents and one grandson.

Survivors include 10 children, Johnny B. (Jamie) Martinez of Austin, Ida (Juan) De Los Santos, Rosalinda Almeida and Annie (Abraham) Segovia, all of Victoria, Enrique Hernandez of Pflugerville, Eva (Prince) Stevens of Houston, and Alonzo Hernandez, Angie (Danny) Hernandez, Rita (Brent) Parham and Bobbie (James) Martinez, all of Beeville; 25 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held from 5 to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home with a rosary recited there at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services were held there at 10 a.m. Monday with Pastor Efrain Pena officiating. Interment followed at Mineral Cemetery in Mineral.

Mrs. McCown

Marie Elizabeth McCown, 90, died on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008.

She was born on Aug. 15, 1918, to Hugh and Elizabeth Mahoney McCown in San Benito. For 45 years, she taught math and was a coach in Calallen and Pettus. She was also an agent for Catholic Life Insurance, and spent her summers working at the Edroy cotton gin.

She is preceded in death by her siblings, J.H., Harold, Orville, Irene, Inez and Paul; and several nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her sister, Charlotte Byerly; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Dobie Funeral Home in Mathis, then moved to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in San Patricio at 5 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick’s. Interment followed at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in San Patricio.

Arrangements were entrusted to Dobie Funeral Home in Mathis.

Mrs. Reskovac

Ann L. Reskovac of Beeville died on Aug. 23, 2008, in Corpus Christi.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Kresge Chapel, Saint Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, Mo.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorial gifts may be sent to the attention of the “Ann Reskovac Memorial” to either Scarritt-Bennett Center, 1008 19th Ave S., Nashville, TN 37212 or Kansas City Academy, 7933 Main St., Kansas City, MO 64114.

Arrangements were entrusted to Seaside Funeral Home in Corpus Christi.

Mr. Schwenke

Richard Paul “Dick” Schwenke, 84, died at his home in Beeville on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, following a fight with cancer.

He was born on the family farm in Engle on Sept. 18, 1923, to Reinhold and Annie Sbrusch Schwenke. He was raised and attended school in Engle. He married Della Ruth Fontenot in Jennings, La., on March 23, 1951. He was a Methodist and retired from Geosource, Petty Ray Geophysical Services after 36 years of service. He enjoyed playing dominoes, fishing, hunting, traveling, working in his yard and garden, and visiting with family and friends at the yearly Schwenkefest family reunions.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Della Ruth; son, Randy Schwenke and wife Becky Winkler Schwenke of Katy; daughter, Melissa and husband Alan Henry of Chipley, Fla.; grandson, Alan Ray Henry Jr.; granddaughters, Adrienne Henry and Samantha Schwenke; numerous nieces and nephews; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Minnie Wagner of Schulenberg; and one brother, Rudolph Schwenke of Rosenberg.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ricky Schwenke; brothers, Charlie, Ben, Reinhold, Edwin, Henry and Herman; and sisters, Olga Fajkus and Ida Ohnheiser, all of the Schulenberg area.

Visitation was held at 8 a.m. today (Wednesday)at Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home in Schulenberg. Funeral services followed at 11 a.m. in the Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Don Taylor officiating.

Arrangements were entrusted to Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home in Schulenberg.
