The Rotary International Club of Beeville meets at noon on Wednesdays at the Beeville Country Club.

Guest speakers for June were Blant Miller, who presented the Rotary Club Assembly various accomplishments for the past year. To date, there were 11 Paul Harris Fellow Awards.

Other speakers included Carsten Meyer, membership development coordinator of Halo-Flight, a nonprofit air ambulance service. Meyer presented information on the company’s services to the surrounding areas. Corbitt Christi of the Southwest Foundation for Biomedical Research of San Antonio presented information on the research being conducted at the facility.

The Rotary-Ryder Golf Tournament and Miss Western Week Pageant were both very successful. Seven students from Bee County schools attended the RYLA, and four students received $750 scholarships. Rotary sponsored an exchange student and will sponsor another this coming school year.

Brandy McClendon, co-owner of the Best Western Texas Inn, was installed as a new member. Guests for the month were Danny Spires, Molly Hennies of Germany, Frank Warner and Terry Gouger of 801 Gramman Assisted Residence.

The Rotary banquet and induction of new officers for 2009-2010 were installed Friday, June 26, at the Beeville Country Club. Joyce Lee, Bobbie Jo Meyer and Kelly McNeese received the Paul Harris Fellow Award. Doug Gorman and his wife, Fran, of San Antonio entertained the group with a magic show.
