The SLOLL minor boy’s team, which was comprised of six 10-year-olds and five 9-year-olds, had a great run at the 2009 District 29 All-star Tournament held in Three Rivers this past week.

The boys opened the tournament with a heart-breaking 7-6 loss to eventual bracket winner Beeville. This loss sent the Longhorns to the loser’s bracket where they would eventually play their way back to the championship game. In doing so, the Longhorns defeated the all stars from North Live Oak 19 – 8, Banquete 18 – 2, Sinton 19 – 5, and Rockport-Fulton 6 -5.

These four wins secured the minor Longhorns a spot in the bracket championship game against the same Beeville team that bested them in the opening game. After another hard fought game the minor boys from South Live Oak fell short again losing 12 – 10 to a very solid Beeville team.

Special thanks goes out to the boys for their hard work and effort, the parents for their diligence to get the boys to practice and games, the NLOLL for hosting the tournament, and all of the many volunteers it took to run the tournament.
