Prompted by calls from constituents, Commissioner Ann Lopez asked if there was any way to get special permits to burn.
Commissioner Gary Bourland, who presided over the meeting in the absence of County Judge Rene Mascorro, said that ranchers could go to Will Blackwell at the USDA office, and obtain a burn plan.
“There’s a way but it’s seldom done,” Bourland said.
