Saint Paul Lutheran Church and the George West Volunteer Fire Department along with the Live Oak County Health Department are hosting the first annual Smoke Detector Initiative on Aug. 8 at noon.
As many as eight homes in Live Oak County will be awarded the installation of smoke detectors and a fire escape plan.
A drawing will be held by the church and fire department prior to the event and notification made to the recipients of their award.
Following the invocation and short homily a lunch will be served and the recipients of the smoke detectors will be recognized.
Lunch plates will be sold to the public to support the event.
Locations to pick up and drop off entry forms will be George West City Hall, Live Oak County Health Dept., Live Oak County Appraisal District, and Saint Paul Lutheran Church. Please provide, name, address, phone number where you can be reached, and a signature on your entry. No entries will be accepted after July 31.
During the event the George West Volunteer Fire Department will perform a rescue drill.
