Michelle Lyons of the TDCJ’s public information office confirmed that Joseph Christian Brasher’s body was discovered in his cell at 4:32 a.m.. A TDCJ doctor pronounced the man dead at the scene. Investigators with the TDCJ’s Office of the Inspector General determined that the cause of death was suicide.
Brasher had been convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child earlier this summer and sentenced to 50 years in prison on the first conviction and 15 years on the second conviction.
Lyons said TDCJ officials had processed Brasher in on Monday, just hours before his body was discovered.
A jury spent only about an hour deliberating in the punishment phase of the trial before returning with a recommendation of 50 years on the more serious charge.
According to testimony, the victim was only seven years old at the time she was molested on July 16, 2007. The victim told jurors that Brasher repeatedly assaulter her.
I stood on the fence when I heard this matter and was curious from a distance. I would like to know though, was this investigated? Was the prison? Was the "victim" or the "victim's" family? Was the judge??

I would venture to say Joe won't be resting in peace, Joe has been cast into the darkness and is weeping and gnashing his teeth for his evil deeds. Although, he may have been forgiven for his sins against this child, there is no forgiveness for committing suicide.
