Frances Lucille Luthringer Duffill, 81, passed away October 11, 2008 in Karnes City, Texas. She was born January 28, 1927 in Live Oak County to Gus, Jr. and Ethel Louvina (Mullen Hatcher) Luthringer. Frances rode a horse to high school in George West. She worked at Hunt’s in Beeville in the 1940’s after school, until she met her husband at Chase Field. Frances married Lt. Cmdr. Laurence Lee Johnson in Beeville, Texas in 1945.
Frances and Laurence enjoyed quail, pheasant, and duck hunting together. Frances soon became a National Champion Skeet Shooter. She occasionally attended the Baptist Church. Frances retired after working in the insurance business as an Office Administrator for many years. She married her second husband, Geoff Duffill, in San Jose, California in 1965 and later divorced. Frances also enjoyed sewing, crafts, and making quilts, and she loved cats. Frances is preceded in death by parents and husband Lt. Cmdr. Laurence Johnson in 1973.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Lee Miranda of Redwood City, CA; a brother, Dick Luthringer his wife Verline of Karnes City, TX; a grandson, Greg Ramar of San Jose, CA.; two nieces, Linda Luthringer and Lisa Luthringer Hays, Lisa’s husband Jimmy Hayes, all of Karnes City, TX.; nephew, Lynn Robert Luthringer, and his wife Kathy of Houston, TX.
Memorial services are pending and will be scheduled at a later date. Frances will be cremated and buried in Glenwood Cemetery in Beeville, TX.
