Oscar Noriega, Jr, 36, of Sinton was arrested Friday morning for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon after allegedly shooting Armando Morin, 47, of George West.

According to George West Police Chief Ray Garcia, on Friday (Aug. 7) morning, “about 1 a.m. our officers responded to a call about a man being shot on Tower Drive. When the officers got there, they found a man who had been shot in the abdomen. He was airlifted to Spohn Memorial (Hospital) in Corpus Christi.”

The Live Oak County Sheriff’s 911 dispatch record indicates a male called at 1:07 a.m. and stated, “Send an ambulance to the Water Tower Trailer Park; my dad has been shot. He’s bleeding real bad and going down... We were on the porch and a man just walked up and shot my dad.”

According to dispatcher notes, units from the sheriff’s office, George West Police Department and DPS were en route by 1:08 a.m. The George West Fire Department was paged as well to stage for HALO-Flight (helicopter) at the airport.

Noriega and Morin allegedly had an altercation over a woman who had at one time allegedly dated Morin and was now allegedly dating Noriega, Garcia said. “However, we have a lot of conflicting stories and I expect more arrests will come out of this incident. Too many different stories have been told to the police,” the chief said.
