Frequent participant at the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko, Nevada, the Arizona Cowboy Poets Gathering in Prescott, Arizona, the Texas Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Alpine, Texas, and others, Joel Nelson is no stranger to the cowboy poetry stage. His CD The Breaker in the Pen is the only cowboy poetry recording ever nominated for a Grammy award.
Lanny Joe Burnett has performed his cowboy poetry across the United States, as well as Central Asia and Western Europe. In 2004 and 2005, Lanny Joe was nominated as “Cowboy Poet of the Year” by the Academy of Western Artists.”
Jean Prescott, known as “The Songbird of the Prairie,” shares her love of western life through songs about the west of yesterday and today. Among her list of achievements, in 2008 Jean Was a multiple nominee for Western Music Association honors in three categories: Female Vocalist, Album of the Year, and Best Collaboration. Jean will perform both cowboy music and cowboy gospel music for the Storyfest audience.
Cowboy Time is scheduled from 12:30 – 2:30 on the TCA Stage and from 4:30 – 5:30 on the FNB Stage. Jean Prescott will also perform cowboy gospel music from 3:00 – 3:30 on the GW Stage and an individual set of cowboy music from 5:30 – 6:30 on the FNB Stage.
