The George West Longhorns traveled to Stockdale for an early Saturday morning scrimmage to begin the 2009 football season. The Longhorn’s offense played without quarterback Seth Pipkin who is out with a back injury. Ty Jimmerson, Albert Gamez, and Zane Schorp all saw time directing the Horn Offense which scored three times on the Brahmas. Gamez broke a long touchdown run and the other Longhorn ball carriers all looked good.
Defensively, the Longhorns started nine seniors who were able to completely throttle the Stockdale spread offense. Defensive end Shannon Taylor and Free Safety Lucas Yocum both had outstanding scrimmage as did defensive linemen Thaddeus Pierce and linebacker Clayton Whitley. The Longhorns will scrimmage the Pettus Eagles this Thursday evening at Longhorn Field. Let’s turn out and support the 2009 Big Blue Wrecking Crew.
