More than 300 head of cattle will be shown by 4-H’ers from across the state this weekend at the Mission River Classic at the county fairgrounds.

“Some of the best show cattle in the state will be at the Mission River Classic,” said Ruben Garcia, organizer. “We expect more than 300 people for this big weekend for the town of Refugio.”

The steer and heifer show will kick off Saturday morning at 9 and run until 6 or 7 p.m.

The heifer show will commence at 9 a.m. Sunday morning until approximately 3 p.m.

“Six or seven local 4-H members are showing,” Garcia said. “These animals will be shown at all the major shows in San Antonio and Houston in March.”

Garcia said there is no charge for the show.

“Everyone is invited to come out and see these kids show their animals,” he said.
