Wednesday, August 19, 2009 the Booster Club held a short meeting at our local Longhorn supporting Dairy Queen in George West.

The first item on the agenda was to give a great “BIG” Thank You to Dairy Queen for providing the condiments for our Blue & White Night scrimmages; after all, what is a burger without mustard or ketchup! Dairy Queen kept the spirit going by announcing our Blue & White night on their marquee. Thanks again, Dairy Queen, for all of your support!

Attending club members were informed that KRXB, Classic Rock 107 radio station in Beeville will be broadcasting local games on Friday nights. They have a certain number of sponsors per game to cover these expenses. It is an opportunity for businesses to have their name mentioned on radio numerous times during that game week and, of course, to show support for our Longhorns!!!! Any business or person interested in information regarding advertising can call KRXB at 358-4941.

The scrimmage this past Thursday night was a success for the George West Longhorns. Many people braved the heat to cheer the Horns on and start the excitement that the football season brings this time of year.

Thanks to Band Booster parents and students for selling burgers and other food items. I know the crowd especially appreciated the students bringing items into the stands to sell.

Parental involvement was high at the Booster Club merchandise stand. Thanks to all who work shifts so that when their child or other family member is playing they can watch from the stands. We support each other.

Our next Booster Club meeting will be Wednesday, Sept. 2 at 6 p.m. at our George West cafeteria or, in the event the cafeteria is already being used, may be held at Dairy Queen in George West. Check the marquee or ask any Booster Club member for information.

Go Horns, beat Poth.
