Hettie Jean Nelson was born April 27,1917 to William Jackson and Hettie Dearmin Bain in San Antonio, Texas.
She lived in San Antonio until she married Arthur Albin Nelson of Victoria on February 9,1937. They drove from San Antonio to Beeville the day they were married. Dr. Nelson immediately opened his chiropractic practice and pursued his
profession for the remainder of his life. Hettie Jean assisted him in the office during their forty six year marriage.
Hettie Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arthur and their first child, Arthur Albin Nelson, Jr.
She leaves cherished memories with her children, James Nelson and wife, Alice, of Lakeway, Claudia Nelson of Beeville, John Nelson and wife, Judy, of Austin and her niece/daughter Susan Becque of Tucson, Arizona. In addition she leaves
five grandchildren including Christian Nelson, Catherine McKeown, Dawn Trosper, Brett Nelson and Lindsay Nelson. She has nine great grandchildren.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church for over sixty years, was active in the Corpus Christi Highlights Porcelain Arts Club and enjoyed painting china for twenty-five years. She was a lifetime member of sixty nine years in the Eastern Star and
a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Visitation will be at Galloway Funeral Home on Sunday, November 2,2008 from I p.m. to 5 p.m. with the family present from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Beeville on Monday, November 3, 2008 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Bill Duke presiding. Internment will follow at Glennwood Cemetery in Beeville.
Pallbearers are, R.J. King, Andrew Nelson, Kelly Trosper, Mark McKeown, Christian Nelson and Mark Parsons. Honorary pallbearers are Lee Roy Magill, Leonard Pawlik, Brett Nelson, Jack Elder, Dr. Grady Hogue, Jr. Ed Cook and Billy Brock.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Beeville Building Fund.
