The Bee County Historical Society will host a Holiday Extravaganza at the Beeville Community Center from 6 to 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20.

Decorated Christmas trees, wreaths, table centerpieces, gift baskets, baked items and many other holiday decorations will be available for every need. All items will be auctioned off to benefit the Historical Society. There will be a live and silent auction, allowing everyone a chance to obtain these wonderful festive items.

Heavy hors d’ouevres, wine, wassail and other beverages will be served. Musical entertainment will be provided.

The Bee County Historical Society provides leadership to the citizens of Bee County in the development of appreciation for the history and culture of Bee County; to discover, procure, and preserve whatever may relate to national, state and local history; and to establish and maintain collections in art, history, crafts and archaeology.

The funds raised from the Holiday Extravaganza will be used for a variety of projects, most notably finishing the restoration begun on the historic McClanahan House located at 104 E. Corpus Christi St. The McClanahan House is the oldest business structure still standing in Beeville, and houses lots of historical items, including furniture and memorabilia. Once the house is restored, the Historical Society plans to offer tours to the public, especially including the school children of the county.

Tickets for the “Holiday Extravaganza” can be purchased in advance for $25 each at Curves for Women, the Historic Park Hotel Antiques in Tuleta, or from members of the Bee County Historical Society. For more information call 358-1550 or 343-3119.
