Dotson said, “After a long season of early mornings and late afternoons practicing and preparing the girls won.”
The Lady Dogs cross country team consists of Cami Hunter, Larissa Guajardo, Ashley Hesseltine, Megan Cruz, Bianca Briseno, Cristina Salinas, and Darcy Orsak.
They scored a total of 45 team points. Orsak placed 1st with a time of 12:52, Cruz 4th, Hunter 6th, Bianca Saenz 16th, Salinas 24th, Guajardo 26th, and Hesseltine 30th. The top 10 individual places qualify for Regionals along with the top three teams.
Athletes from Cotulla, Dilley, Freer, George West, Jourdanton, Natalia, and Three Rivers competed. Other qualifying teams from District 31-2A were George West with 50 points and Cotulla with 82 points. The Region 4 Meet will be held at Brooks City Base in San Antonio on Nov. 8.
Additionally, the boys varsity participated and placed 4th. The Bulldog cross country team consists of Jacob Carvajal, Jacob Moran, Johnathan Sulaica, Jonathan Lopez, Dustin Thomas, Josh Gutierrez, and Nathan Morin. Junior Varsity girls, Elizabeth Lara placed 3rd, and Laura Morin placed 7th. Managers for the teams are Kristin Lerma, Ashley Gutierrez, and Maegan Haag.
