Continued: Ms. Stewart, until you have filled my shoes or any other educator's shoes you have NO RIGHT, and neither do any other members, to accuse teachers of not doing their job. You might think you won because the vote didn't go for us, however, you didn't! It just showed more of you inability to run and say things properly and accurately. You need to be removed from your position, Ms. Stewart!!!! You have caused more hurt feelings and problems to this community. YOU have divided Beeville even more!!!!

All the Beeville educators are the winners, because we have done, are doing, and WILL continue to do our best for our students, which is more than I can say for you. It wouldn't matter how much they pay you Ms. Stewart, you have shown you aren't the one for the job you hold!!! Each day, with or without a raise we do our best for our students and do our job. As for our students, they are the ones that will suffer without these needed programs. So when the time comes to point the finger, remember which group didn't want to unify and make these programs happen for students: BEEVILLE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND MS. PAM STEWART.

CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND MS. PAM STEWART!!!!!!!

The other programs that will be cut are the ones that help the lower children. The students that can't read, write, or do math. These are the students that WILL NOT pass a TAKS test because they can not function at their grade level. And I am not talking about the students that are Special Ed. I am talking about the students that sit in the normal classroom everyday, the students that DO NOT qualify for Special Ed for one reason or another. We have students that don't qualify for the Special ed programs because they are to low. These are the students that are sent to the extra reading or math class each day for help in these subjects so maybe, just maybe they might pass the TAKS test. When these programs are taken away, what will happen to these students? Teachers struggle each and every day to make progress with students they are given to nurture and teach for the school year. Some students come along way each year, but some do not.

The CHAMBER has put the bad scores solely on the schools and the teachers. This is not right. We have students that do not come to school because they did not want to. We have numerous students that are tardy to school every day. The same goes with students that are picked up early. When the child is not in the classroom he/she is NOT learning. When they don't learn what is taught, they don't pass, whether it is to the next grade or the state test.

I am a proud 13 year employee of BISD and I am not a teacher. I am an Assistiant. No, I did not get my 3% pay raise that would have helped me pay my bills and give me a very small cost of living increase, but I will still come to work everyday to a job I love and to the smiling faces of the students of BISD. To all employees of BISD, you do an awesome job every day!!!! Don't let the people that don't have a clue what it's like to walk in your shoes, discourage you. We will all continue to do the best we can and love our children no matter what. God Bless you all!!!!

We need to think about who this really hurts. Voting down the proposed tax hurts the current and future students of Beeville ISD. Included in the tax was special programs, athletics, and the teacher pay raise. The special program help the advanced children. The students who double dip by taking classes at the college, technical classes such as welding, building trades, auto mechanics, the certified nurses program just to to name a few are the students that are truly hurt. They will be hurt because their classes will be gone next year. Athletics will be hurt because that is where the money will be cut from 1st. Which is not right, because the majority of the leaders in the united states participated in high school sports. And finally, how can you expect to get quality teaching if you do not pay for it. Skidmore pays more than BISD. and so does GP and Port Lavaca and Corpus Christi and Floresville and everyother comparible school to BISD in size and stature. How many of those schools had bad taks scores and how many of those towns decided not to support their schools. I'll tell you which one. BEEVILLE TEXAS

Beeville continues to prove what a horrible place it is to live in. I was born and raised in this community and I have yet to see unity!!!! The Chamber of Commerce is a great example of the pitiful way this community has never been able to come together and make Beeville a proud and prosperous place to live in and show our surrounding counties that "WE" are a family working together to help all Beevillians. Instead, we (Beeville residents) always come out the laughing stock of the surrounding counties!!!!

I have been a teacher for 35 years in Beeville and not once have I seen a Chamber of Commerce Member come in and visit, observe or make an effort to help in the schools. All you keep nagging about is for us to shop at your stores. Well believe me when I tell you, the shopping I DID DO in your stores won't be happening anymore and if I know my fellow colleagues they won't be either.

Ms. Stewart, until you have filled my shoes or any other educator's shoes you have NO RIGHT

from the caller times

"Voters approved two Corpus Christi Independent School District bond propositions totaling $192 million and a 2-cent tax rate increase for employee raises, with all 86 precincts reporting."

This was not just a Beeville situation. Corpus voted for their teachers.

Prof $'s

My wife's students have had some of the highest scores in the district for the past 5 years in a row. She is also a former teacher of the year. She busts her butt every day to encourage her students to learn. Some of these students in the past and present needed additional help. These programs that you do not support are the same programs that helped some of her kids to be successful.

On a personal note, I find it hard to believe that you were threatened by thugs to vote for the tax increase. If you were threatened, you need to call the police. I am sure you have caller ID and you can give the police their names. That is a cop out if I ever heard one. If you are going to post comments, be truthful.

The lack of support of your paper, chamber and this school district is disgraceful. You have just caused possibly several people their jobs including mine. Yes, I am the other(special programs). We need these programs to better educate the needs of all students! You people need to step into our shoes some day and you would understand the need for all the programs that the district currenting has. And by the way Pam Stewart, you have the gaul to say we aren't doing our job. What about you? I see more businesses closing than opening in this town. Is it not your job to promote new businesses not scare them off! This town is no better off than before we got Super Wal-mart, Chili's, Hibbot, Cato, or the Dollar store. When you can do your job, then come and try to do ours!

What is a meritocracy? Can the concept be applied to teachers? Let's use empirical (taks) data to support individual cases.

Having been the recipient of several threatening calls from thugs, I had no choice but to vote against the issue. This is still the USA and there is no room for that type of behavior. So instead of pointing fingers, go stand in front of a mirror and see how you can do a better job with the children so that next year you will be in a position to actually earn your raise!!!

Do children suffer when they receive horrible taks scores? Can we blame the chamber for that?

I agree. The teachers don't make squat and the chamber thinks that they don't deserve what they get. What a blow. Only the children will suffer.

I think they are going to regret their decision! It only hurts our children.

I want to know exactly what the chamber of commerce plans are to help BISD. How can they raise the money to keep quality teachers at BISD and more importantly how they plan to purchase and implement the resources our children need without the tax increase? I don't think they are going to regret their decision.
