Everyone has a right to believe what he or she wants to believe and nobody has a right to tell anyone to believe what he or she wants them to believe.
In February 2009, the stimulus bill was passed. No House Republican voted in favor of the stimulus bill; only three Senate Republicans voted in favor.
After the passing of the stimulus bill, our Republican county judge, David Silva, welcomed a group of people in the commissioners courtroom and engaged them to submit a wish list for free stimulus money. This is what he said: “I don’t know how much we’re going to get, but if we get something it’s better than what we have right now.”
Our Republican mayor, Kenneth Chesshir, agreed and said, “If they are going to be slinging money around, we may as well get in line for some of that funding.”
On April 15, 2009, our Republican judge joined the Tea Party gang and this is what he said, ”Whenever Americans feel oppressed we take it to the streets.” It is very American to protest. So where does he stand? Does he favor the wish list? Or does he favor the protesters?
On April 15, 2009, our Republican Gov. Rick Perry joined the Tea Party at the state Capitol protesting taxes and the stimulus package and just recently he got in line to ask for some of that wasteful spending (stimulus money); two billion for educational purposes.
Other Republicans who voted against the bill also got in line to request some of that free government money giveaway as they had called it.
Republicans say it’s time to vote Rep. Ruben Hinojosa out, but who’s going to take them seriously when they say one thing and do another. Due to this recession, we are all in deep water. We will all have to swim together or we will all sink together.
