Guest speakers for the month of August were John Claude and Marilyn Briedenbach, who presented a video of their trip to St. Petersburg, Russia, BISD Superintendent John Hardwick, who gave an update on the school district, and Vicki Hewitt from the South Texas Children’s Home Ministries. Ms. Hewitt showed STCHM video and Mickey Lofton explained the home’s mission, goals and a few of the services offered such as family and marriage counseling in the Victoria and Corpus Christi offices at no cost to the clients. The STCHM Golf Tournament is scheduled for Nov. 2.
District 5840 Governor of Rotary, Clarence “Reggie” Williams, and his wife, Buz, attended the Aug. 26 meeting. He spoke of the goals, fellowship, service to the community and leadership of Rotary. Williams will be visiting 56 clubs during his tenure.
Guests were Donna Johnson of Grants Works and Juliet Manaud, Rotary foreign exchange student from France.
