Johnny Joe “Juan” Salazar, 59, of Beeville died Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009.

He was born Dec. 14, 1950, in Beeville to Felipe G. and Victoria (Castillo) Salazar. He was a truck driver for Pronto and was a member of the Pentecostal church.

Mr. Salazar was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Johnny Joe Salazar Jr.; a daughter, Anita Perez; and a stepbrother, Alfonso Villa.

Survivors include his companion, Elsida of Beeville; seven children, Donna (Zacharia) Ortiz of Taylor, Mich., Johnny Lee (Bunny) Salazar of Windsor, Canada, Angel Salazar, Romulo Salazar, Jose Luis Salazar and Blanca Palma Salazar, all of Detroit, Mich. and Johica Marie Salazar of St. Clair Shores, Mich., one stepdaughter, Isabel Perez of Beeville; one stepson, Adam Aleman of Beeville; 18 grandchildren; five brothers, Felipe C. Salazar and the Rev. Reynaldo Salazar, both of Mission, Jaime Salazar of Detroit, Mich., Hector Salazar of Calallen and Roy Salazar of Robstown; two stepbrothers, Juan Villa of Beeville and Domingo Villa of Oklahoma; and two sisters, Maria Victoria Flores and Rosalinda Dominguez, both of Beeville.

Visitation was held Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home. A prayer service was conducted there that evening at 7 o’clock.

A graveside service was held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at San Pedro Cemetery in the Clareville Community, with the Rev. Reynaldo Salazar officiating.

Pallbearers were Johnny Lee Salazar, Romulo Salazar, Jose Luis Salazar, Angel Salazar and Adam Salazar.
