The freshman girls continued to improve and earned a second place finish in their division.
“Everything went better than expected. All the runners did an awesome job running up the hills and passing people,” said JHS head coach Stella Resio.
The top 15 runners in each division earn medals and the Beeville runners brought home several for their work on Saturday.
For the varsity girls, Jennifer Rodriguez placed fourth in 14:03, while Victoria Elizalde finished close behind her in fifth at 14:10. Victoria Muñoz ran to a 12th place spot in 14:42. Lyndsey Yanez was timed in 15:08 for 23rd overall and Amanda Alvarez was just two seconds behind her at 15:10 in 24th. Drucilla Gonzalez ran to a 38th place finish with a time of 15:51.
The varsity boys placed well with Jair De La Garza earning a medal with a seventh place finish in 18:02. Adam Garcia finished 28th in 18:52 while Nick Saenz was 41st at 19:44. Ruben Garza placed 43rd with a time of 20:02. Jared Carrillo came in 47th at 20:14 and Jonathan Garcia placed 66th in 21:47.
The junior varsity girls had three competitors. Katlynn Williford placed 46th in 17:55 and Monica Garza ran to a 61st place finish in 19:10. Marisela Ybarra completed the course in 24:51.
The JV boys were led by Jordan Saldivar, who placed 43rd with a time of 22:20. Justin Farias led a pack of young Trojans with his time of 23:24, coming in 53rd. Kevin Dang was 55th at 23:31 and Jerry Rodriguez placed 56th at 23:40. Jose Barron was close behind in 58th at 23:42.
The freshman girls duplicated last week’s second place finish at Cole Park with a similar finish on Saturday. Three of the five runners earned medals and all were in the top 20 runners for the division.
Adriana Baltazar led the way for the young ladies with a fifth place finish in 15:35. Anyssa Barbosa was timed in 16:09 for seventh place. Reba Trejo was 15th in 17:35 and Lynn Puente was 17th in 18:40. Emily Barris ran to a 19th place spot in 19:40 to complete the freshman girls’ efforts.
The Beeville Trojans host their own invitational cross country meet next Saturday at Veterans Memorial Park.
