The Skidmore-Tynan JV football squad could not overcome a tough Mathis rushing attack this past Thursday night as the Bobcats fell, 44-30.

The Bobcats actually led in the first quarter 14-8 on the strength of two long touchdown runs by running back Jeremy Byrd, and a fumble caused by defensive lineman Patrick Dougherty.

The Mathis Pirates dominated in the second quarter, but the Bobcats rebounded in the third quarter to make it a game.

Quarterback Hudson Wallace connected with wide receiver Robert Hernandez for a touchdown, followed by a two- point conversion catch by Brandon Smith.

Other standout players included linebackers Manuel Flores, Tomas Moore and John Lamb. Linemen who had good games included John Scott, Pedro Torres and Nick Hughes.

The young Bobcats met Stockdale at home on Thursday evening.
