Felipe Ybarra Jr., 27, and Gerardo Cantu, 25, both of Beeville, were charged with burglary of a habitation, Beeville Police Detective Reñe Guerrero reported.
He said the two men are accused of taking the rods and reels out of a garage in the 1200 block of West Stamper Street in the early morning hours of Thursday, Oct. 29.
The rods and reels were of various models and brands and valued at $2,152, he said.
Detective Chris Bernal, who investigated the theft, said 19 of the rods and reels were recovered from a Corpus Christi pawn shop later that day.
He said Ybarra and Cantu were linked to the sale of the rods and reels and arrested.
They face a second degree felony charge of burglary of a habitation, punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Both men have posted bail and have been released from custody.
“This is a case of excellent police work,” Guerrero said.
