The Chamber Parade Committee is accepting entries for the Bee County Chamber of Commerce Parade on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 10:30 a.m. in downtown Beeville.

This year marks the 72nd annual parade, an integral element of the Bee County Western Week Celebration. The parade is the official kickoff of a fun-filled day of activities at the Expo Center including the carnival, rodeo, cook-offs and entertainment.

The Chamber wants you to continue this historic Bee County tradition, adding, “Come celebrate Western Week with your participation in our community’s parade.”

First place trophies and second and third place ribbons will be awarded in the following categories: Chamber of Commerce & Cities, Commercial, Non-Commercial, Youth Entries, Decorated and Antique Cars, Mounted Groups & Horse Drawn Vehicles. A grand prize trophy will be awarded to the best overall entry.

This year’s parade theme is Celebrate Education – “Education Launches Tomorrow’s Stars.”

Chamber event coordinator Isabel Ramirez says that “incorporating a theme and adding music to your entry always creates a festive atmosphere!”

The entry fee for 2009 is $15 for Chamber members and $20 for prospective members, with the exception of schools or school sponsored organizations and organizations with proof of nonprofit status by the Internal Revenue Service.

The entry forms are available at the Chamber office at 1705 N. St. Mary’s St. Entries and fees must be returned before Oct. 6 for the best lineup position. Entries received after this date may still participate, however, they will be added to the end of the lineup. Entry fees must accompany forms in order to be added to the lineup.

Judging begins at 9 a.m. Call 358-3267 or email info@beecountychamber.org for additional information.
