He was born Aug. 28, 1917, in Tynan. He was a farmer and rancher.
Mr. Alvarado was preceded in death by his wife, Soila; and two sons, Tusbaldo and Rene Alvarado.
Survivors include three daughters, Juanita McCrea of Fort Stockton, Udelia McCrea of Harlingen and Yolanda Smith of Arlington; five sons, Jose Alvarado Jr. and Reynaldo Alvarado of Mathis, Baldomero Alvarado and Balde Alvarado of Beeville and Eloy Alvarado of Bulverde; three brothers, Reynaldo and Evaristo Martinez of Moses Lake, Wash., and Gilbert Alvarado of Spokane, Wash.; 26 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.
A rosary was recited Monday at 7 p.m. at Dobie Funeral Home chapel in Mathis.
The funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial followed in Descanso Eterno II Cemetery.
