Editor:

The Obammieland article is very off-putting as the first article commanding the most attention on the Bee-Picayune online page. It is apparent that no matter how many other people write blogs, Hellfire and a couple of others are determined to stay front and center on the homepage of the Bee-Pic.

The editorials and the insistence of some make the online site seem as if it is a neo-conservative GOP propaganda site. News items seem to take second place. As a reader, it seems as if no one cares if readers are offended by these almost daily rants by certain people who want us all to “have a GOP day” or describe an evening in “ObammieLand.”

Apparently free-thinkers and Democrats are not the people who are being sought after for readership.

Am I wrong?

Claire Fletcher

Editor’s note: Blogging on www.MySouTex.com is open to all and there are some from the left as well as the right, just like the letters to the editor here. As most polls on just about any topic indicate, these are turbulent political times in America regardless of website.

Some changes are in the works as the MySouTex.com is an ongoing work in progress, but software changes take time. Regardless of political viewpoint, it would be short-sighted to embrace censorship as a means of tuning out opinions with which we disagree.

And I'm LMAO about you and your mental instability.

You are so tormented that you have to delete my posts, try to intimidate me, research to learn my identity and try to expose me for any wrongdoings that I may have done in my life just because I challenge the bull that you post.

You've attacked President Obama since he won the election because you are tormented by the fact that the GOP lost.

I have nothing to lose when I agree with you because I don't live in your area of the state and have not even seen anyone that I know from the area in nearly a decade. Since you are obviously from the area, I can only guess that everyone knows that you are a right-wing nut job and that your mental case. You've proven that in your own blogs when you interrupted the dinner of other people you don't even know to express the depth of your knowledge (and that is intended to mock you).

Enjoy President Obama and the next four years of Democratic rule!

Okay, you said you have given me a choice. What is it? Are you going to call my mommy? You are so tormented by me that you probably did a bunch of research and spent a bunch of money to find out who she is and where she lives.

I actually agreed with you on some of your concerns and you felt compelled to delete my post because I stated that the Republicans are also to blame for some of the issues our country is facing. You just can't live with the facts that your party is also to blame for the country's problems.

You have been anti-Obama from the day he was elected. I mock your paranoia and the fact that you refuse to recognize the fact that he was elected as our president. Your mental stability is seriously in question based upon the rants that you continue to post.

I'm so scared of you that I'm going to lock myself in my home and cower in the corner--not! Why don't you come up here and beat me up.

I don't have anything to lose when I argue with you because I don't even reside in south Texas and have not even seen any of my acquaintances from there in nearly a decade. Can you say the same for yourself--what do you think that the people in your area think about you? They realize that you are just a right-wing nut job.

Enjoy President Obama and the Dems for another four years! Oh, I see that you are responding to me again--you can't even keep your own word.

LMAO @ U, I see you are having your usual unstable mental awarness day. Whoop, may I use that? Hmmmm, threatening no, mocking yes. Did you get the jest of the post? When a car drives down your street, do you feel threatened? Yes you do. Wow you have some serious mental issues going there bud!

Of course I can't delete you. It is obvious that you are tied to the newspaper because you have deleted responses placed on the posts by other bloggers. So yes, you possess the power to put what is online, big whoop!. If you want to address me privately, my email address is pvscribe@yahoo.com.

Once again you are threatening me and dismissing everything I post because you know that your arguments are full of holes. If you have any dirt on me, then put it out there for the world to see--it won't make any difference to me. I've already made that challenge to you and you have not produced a thing. The fact that you are attacking and threatening me indicates that my points are valid and reasonable.

You might as well pick up your paycheck from the Republican National Committee for the propaganda you keep producing.

Your posts are deleted because you can not reason, comprehend, or rationalize at normal intelligence levels.

You are like a child throwing a temper tantrum that a nickel can not buy a dollars worth of candy. No matter how many valid points and evidence sealed in reality, endless nonsense continues. I’ll not waste much time on this as all can see your blithering begs to be ignored.

QUOTING YOU: “Some additional reasons why the healthcare overhaul will be good for business are that businessowners will not have to spend time shopping for insurance plans for which they possess only a limited knowledge base and that employees will spend less time dealing with their health insurers--this means increased productivity for businesses which means that there is a larger tax base and a corresponding decrease in tax rates to generate the required revenue for government to operate.” > Insurance is only a part of operating a for profit business. You assume business owners are ignorant and can’t find the best program for their business. You are stating that they should not be given a choice.

Oh, yes another freedom given to obammie and crew. The idea that it will increase production or bottom line is ludicrous. You fail to understand the funding to create the very option you support comes from those businesses!

QUOTING YOU; “You quoted the golden rule to me as your source of power. I have news for you--it's the people that we elected as our legislators and in executive offices that are the people that make the rules. The power that you perceive that you have is delusional and an underlying reason why you feel it is necessary to take out your frustrations by blogging” > LMAO @ U. How you came to that conclusion proves my point about your inability to understand. The quote, as you say, means those who have money make the rules. Politicians are placed into office by that money, which means they do the bidding of those putting them in office. The fact you have failed each and every time to have my posts stopped, edited or deleted and most of all your inability to accept what I post is fact, infuriates you to no end.

You have inferiority issues relating to authority and successful people, originations or groups. Give up; stop making a bigger joke of yourself. If allowed I would certainly attack your reasoning in great detail. I have told you I regard you with contempt, dismiss you as a ……

My last words over this matter. Get over it. What was your phone number again?

To begin with, I want to thank the editors of this newspaper for finally showing some consistency about removing certain posts that are accusatory or contain implied profanity.

Since Hellfire deleted my response from his blog I will take liberty to post it here to see if he deletes it again. I feel it is necessary to respond to his latest comments and questions. Below is an edited version of my previous response:

In the second or third post that I've ever made to this paper I readily conceded that taxes were going to be raised in order to pay for the health care agenda that President Obama advocates--I've never expected to get something for nothing. I also indicated several reasons why the costs in increased taxes would be offset. Among those reasons are the reductions in administrative costs in comparison to private insurance, the need for less emergency care, etc.

Some additional reasons why the healthcare overhaul will be good for business are that businessowners will not have to spend time shopping for insurance plans for which they possess only a limited knowledge base and that employees will spend less time dealing with their health insurers--this means increased productivity for businesses which means that there is a larger tax base and a corresponding decrease in tax rates to generate the required revenue for government to operate.

You quoted the golden rule to me as your source of power. I have news for you--it's the people that we elected as our legislators and in executive offices that are the people that make the rules. The power that you perceive that you have is delusional and an underlying reason why you feel it is necessary to take out your frustrations by blogging.

You also accuse me of being self-serving and looking out for my own interests. To respond: 1) The only times that I received funds from the government were for tax refunds or tax rebates. 2) My college education was paid for by either scholarships from private foundations or from my own bank account. 3) I am currently on my employer’s health insurance plan, so there is very little immediate benefit to me if there is an overhaul in healthcare. 4) Everyone looks out for their self-interests to a certain extent; however, I found my most fulfilling experiences occurred when I give and assist others which is consistent with the values I gained from my family, friends, and educational pursuits. I suggest that you do the same.

I won't respond to your claims about me anymore because they are outlandish. I believe that most readers will realize that I am well-educated and have a solid grasp on many issues. If you want to attack me, then feel free to stoop to that level--it only discredits yourself.

By the way, I noticed that you were able to delete responses to Claire Fletcher's blog. I think that gives the readers a pretty clear indication of who you are since the only people that would have that ability are Claire and the people connected with this newspaper. Oops!

Have a wonderful four years and I hope you take advantage of President Obama's healthcare overhaul.

Goliadchica,

I don’t agree with your views. I do agree that abbydoodle’s (andy)conduct is creepy. Take care in that respect.

I also agree with your vehement expressions about undertakings, not the undertakings.

At any rate, just to ease my mind, take care.

Andy;

Considering the fact my post pointing out several indications and serious lack of grammatical ability to have “intelligent discussion”, your words, was deleted, I will relate that you “loosing” respect for me and my alleged ban from a board or “too” are rock solid reasons anyone posting, displaying those words with another meaning in sentences unmistakably prove that individual can not be taken seriously. Perhaps you will use your “judgement”, while I use my judgment, to see I am correct. While you "could care less"

I "Couldn't care less" when you "loose" respect for anything.

No I am not missing the point, you are asking for censorship --removing information from the online page ---where it is now to some place else because you may not like the topic some times. You started the discussion for censorship here so here I talk.

Because you were so adament about your beliefs I wanted to know where you really stood. I do not know where you live nor care to find out--so don't feel threatened in that sense, I could care less. I wanted to know why you called people of this fine region neo-conservative GOPs, It only took about five minutes to find out why you called people that as well as referring to them all as rednecks. So please don't consider that I spent any more time than that. You leave a lot of cookie crumbs that attack a lot of people of other colors or political beliefs.

Thus people should know that what seemed to be an innocuous request really appeared to be a deep hatred for other political groups as well as people in this region. You have no problems calling them hateful names, using foul language, and all this behind their back.

Now as an American you have a right to those beliefs. Just like Hellfire. But be honest about who you are. I resent you referring to people in this area as rednecks. You owe them an apology. You owe the conservatives an apology for dropping to such lows that elementary school kids do --grow up and have adult conversations. I can't believe that you are a mother and talk like you do. What a disgrace for your children. You owe an appology to the college. And you say you support Education. Well your actual historical activity does not confirm that statement.

And I still think the front page should reflect the entire community news and blogs. It is a snapshot of who we are. On mornings when we are in a rush, It helps cover the news and community quickly. And as I said. If you have something to say, then write a blog in such a way that you gain everyone's respect and trust.

Don't use HellFire as an example. What you see here, he does on several other forums. He/She is an antagonist. I think he has been closed from a board or too. HellFire..the same goes for you...write some intelligent commentary we will all respect. Stop delving into calling everyone names, slurs, etc. It is tiresome and I loose respect for you. Attacks get you no where. Gut it up dude or dudette. Can you do that? I dare you to try to write such a blog and allow intelligent discussion without deleting people who disagree with you and you not calling them names or attacking the sexual preferences, their mother, heritage, religion or any other idea you can think of.

For get it, I am going to buy some anasasi beans. One of great beans of our nations.

Again, same argument and u miss the point.

I did not ask for censorship.

I asked that the blogs - all of them - be put on the Opinions page where they belong.

IF my entire letter to the editor had been printed, you would have read it.

I would like the facts to be presented - it is a NEWSpaper, verdad? Not an OPINIONpaper.

You have really spent a lot of time investigating what I do online.

That's kind of obsessive and creepy. Are u going to show up at my house or work next?

How long have you been a troll?

Goliadchica,

It was in your letter that you used name calling of other beliefs "trying to get your point across. Thus you loose all credibility and open yourself to allowing the public know who you are when you are judging us and the paper. Calling all the people in the region "rednecks" behind our backs --is cowardice. Perhaps your boss should read your open twitter page also to gain more insight on how you really feel about your job.

My point was sticking to the issue, you used offensive words in your letter with no expectation of recourse. You have done the same many times on the down the road paper and became incensed when someone questioned your categorical judgements.

I am not bringing in religion into your comments. What I am highlighting is that you accused the newspaper of chosing one radical view. And in truth you are at the opposite end of a radical view.

Thus as an editor, they must consider their vast audience and try to temper voices somewhere in the middle with a few side shows ever so often.

Why not have the blogs on the front page? Online? Personally I like this? I like to see the news and the blogs --it provides a complete laser view of our community in one swope. This is not the Victoria Advocate run by Chris and his gang of liberals who constantly give liberals a soap box and delete any other conservative view. And yest the editorial group lies about what they do. If you want that radical view -- go back there. You have spoken at least 457 times on that site. Granted that is less than you twitter in a day --since you seem concerned about ending up in twitter jail.

For those that don't understand twitter jail -- that is when you twitter over 100 times an hour or a 1000 times a day. Now I ask employers...is this what you want employees doing before someone has a wreck, cuts their arm off in machinery, or does some other harm to someone else.

If twitter is needed to discuss your radical view points, the the Bee does not need to change its policies for on person.

Quit asking for censorship in your favor. You seem to have other outlets to vent and steam. Leave this one alone.

abby, what does one thing have to do with another?

Like Hellfire, you do not stick to the issue at hand.

I said that the opinion blogs, including mine, belong on the opinion page. I said that Hellfire's blogs are pretty offensive sometimes and that it was offputting to see them on the first page.

I asked if Democratic and Liberal readers were actually wanted by this newspaper. Last I heard, newspapers were trying to increase readership, not restrict it.

I did not suggest censorship.

If you disagree with any of the previous statements, then say so. But please stick to the point.

If you want to take up any issues with me about my Twitter profile, I suggest you do it on that forum. I will be more than happy to do so there. It is a much less politically correct site and I belong to groups that are much more "out there" and impolite than on this forum. We can "discuss" the issue in real time there. I assume you are a #tcot follower?

Censorship of either liberals or conservatives is not right and I never suggested such.

Yes, I am an ally of GLBT people - so what?

Hellfire, since you are so pleased to use my name, I assume you realize you are wrong about who I am?

Try to rachet down the rhetoric and discuss the issues. Or write another racist or bigoted blog so you can be "on top" of the homepage. Anything that any of us write belongs on the opinion page, which was the point in my letter to the editor.

Claire old girl, HAVE A GOP DAY!!!

God and country are words used not so often these days. While the Bible is clear how those associated with homosexual acts, bearing false witness and the like will be spending eternity this blog thread is not about that.

I assure all, that if allowed I would toughly roast such. However, given the envelope provided by the editors of this blog, all I will relate is shame on those poor souls. I pity those being reared in such an environment.

It is a tribute to American freedom that avenues such as this one exist. It is undeniable that some wish to censor having only their beliefs, no matter how it flies in the face of religion, morality and a thinking human being.

Ms. Fletcher believes the Bee online supports neo-conservative GOP propaganda site. Apparently free-thinkers and Democrats are not the people who are being sought after for readership....

Ms. Fletcher seems to have a specific vision in mind. Maybe it way to far for the entire readership and I am sure there is a middle and a way too far the other way also. I appreciate the editor's response that the paper remain open to all commentary as long as it is civil.

In the truth perhaps Ms. Fletcher should let us know, per twitter, that She defines herself as Texan Yellowdog Democrat Liberal Supporter of Education, Gay rights, Civil rights, and MOM.

She states “conservatives "to bite me…""f off.” She calls conservatives “conservatards”. (What about the civil rights of other people?)

She had this recent comment: “Freakin awesome. We have a GLBT club on our little redneck south Texas college campus. I am SO proud of those kids.” For those of us that may be behind on slang that is Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transvestite club on our little REDNECK South Texas college Campus.

Why put down the people in the region and college? A learning institution? education—sex. The use of Redneck college is not inline with supporter of education.

These two items help understand why you do not like hellfires blog. So instead of complaining write something better. I think offending everyone in the South Texas region is a little worse than Hellfires blog. Calling everyone a Redneck?

Please, Beeville Bee Picayune, continue to be open to all sides of discussion we don’t want the paper turned into one farcical fancy for one person to bash any political party or group with gross, hatemongering slang, and curse words. The paper should celebrate the open dialog between all and not shut lines of communication, as Ms. Fletcher wants you to do.

It is up to the readership to write blogs. It is the writer and commenters that must temper themselves. The Editors should issue warnings first so that the writers understand.

Please continue to report news that covers a broad spectrum. Don’t censor don’t assume we are dumb. Let us read and weed. Provide information so that we can make educated choices. Don’t make them for us –that leads to suspicion.

PVscribe if the paper treats unfairly I think the board owes the writer an explanation and apology. That is where the failure is today. There needs to be dialog between the writers and the papers also.

GoliadChica/Ms. Fletcher it seems the ball is in your court as to write effective, clear, blogs that will reach a broad audience versus a small one that will not take you seriously.

I don't think the paper has taken hellfires side. There just has not been anything written that is better to replace it.

I appreciate the Bee Pic printing my letter to the editor.

To respond to abbydoodle: I do would not want to read a paper with only one side of an issue. Apparently you did not comprehend my slightly edited letter to the editor. I said the paper and the blogs come off as one sided and non-welcoming of another side and I, as a non-Republican, was turned off by what I perceive as a slanted presentation.

I do not want to "go down the road" to read another paper. I want the local news and I would like to feel as if my readership welcome.

Is that so wrong?

For once, I agree with the editor's comments regarding censorship. I find that the best solutions to many issues come from the discussion and inclusion of many ideas.

My concerns are regarding the inconsistencies shown by the editorial staff with the deletion of certain posts with personal attacks. As an example, one of these attacks concerned my sexual orientation which was an outright lie. Even if the attack was true, I don't see how that person could make that statement unless they were the other person who I was involved with.

I have graciously apologized for the personal attacks that I made online only to be mocked for making that apology. However, I still have not received an apology from the person that made the statement or from the newspaper for allowing that post to remain online since it clearly violated the stated guidelines. It will be interesting to see if this newspaper holds to the editor's comments or if I will ever receive an apology for the vile and untrue comments that were made against me.

Thank you for not believing in censorship. A so called news media online down the road censors articles, blogs, and comments depending on if it is in the flavor of their editorial team.

That means many conservative comments appear and then disappear. With much frequency. This happens while so called free thinkers call viewership racists, use racist slurs and never once are removed from the online paper. In fact it is their blogs that greet the readers.

I love to see an online that celebrates the voices of all. While the use of obammie unsettled me -it is rude ---I do not want all voices silenced. I appreciate the paper being open minded for both sides as long as it does recognize the hate monger and racial slurs made by the minorities as okay because only white people can be racist. The "down the road gang" put those blogs on the front page of the online --they are offensive attacking the color and sex of other people. But they are kept online.

However Ms. Fletcher if you want a Democratic only paper --the down the road gang will welcome you with open arms. In fact, they admit they do not run any conservative news stories recently --says their AP news computer doesn't receive them. How odd to have such a democratic computer.
