All four matches went to the home team but the Beeville girls played hard, according to the coaches.
The seventh-grade A team lost in two with the G-P girls taking the first set at 25-6 and then captured the second set, 25-9, in the best of three match.
The seventh-grade B team kept things close in their match with the Ladycats. The first set was a 25-20 G-P win and the Ladycats managed a 25-22 victory in set two for the 2-0 victory.
In the eighth-grade B match, G-P captured the match in two straight, 25-13 and 25-15, over the Lady Trojans.
“The girls had several key saves to keep plays going but just could not get anything consistently going on offense,” said MMS coach Nidia Barrera.
The eighth-grade A team lost in two straight as the Ladycats took the first set, 25-18, and then captured set two, 25-9.
“Lynnzey Garcia was able to lead the team offensively, scoring a total of seven points. Abigail Silva really stepped up for us on the net and played an aggressive match. Overall we have progressed throughout the season and are focused on our task at hand,” said MMS coach Ophelia De Los Santos.
The MMS girls play at home on Monday night against Flour Bluff. The first serve is set for 5 p.m.
