The Wednesday Luncheon Club that meets on Thursdays recently held its October meeting on Thursday, Oct. 15, at the Beeville Country Club. Vice President Jonnie Jordan presided in the absence of President Andrea Gibbud.

The invocation was given by Cherry McClintock, sister of hostess Carolyn Shannon. Complementing the meal, pink ice cream was served as the dessert.

Carolyn was hostess and her program was on breast cancer. The guest speaker was Mary Martinez of the Victoria American Cancer Society. Carolyn mentioned that men were susceptible to the disease because she lost her husband, Jimmie, to the disease in 2000.

More than 40 members and guests were present. They had been asked to wear pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
