This letter is to the citizens of Bee County over 65 years of age.

I called my primary care physician’s office on Oct. 29 and was advised they now have the H1N1 flu vaccine. On Oct. 30, I went to that office about 8:30 a.m. and presented myself for the H1N1 flu vaccine. At that time I was questioned as to my eligibility to receive this vaccine. I explained I am 82 years old, have COPD and felt my compromised health merited receiving the vaccine. I was told by the clerks, after they read a certain paper, that I was not eligible because of my age.

I call this outrageous rationing of health care for seniors.

I do not blame my primary care physician or the professionals in that office. But, is this a sign of things to come? It would be nice if the doctors office just posted a sign that says “If you are too old, you are not eligible for this, this and this.” How old is too old? You tell me.
