It is important to note that Veterans Day is not just a celebration of our military men and women, but a celebration of peace. In times of war and peace, the men and women of our armed forces place themselves in harm’s way for the defense of our nation and our belief in democracy. It is because of their sacrifices that we can enjoy safety and peace here at home.
As we enjoy this special day with our family and friends, remember those serving in Afghanistan, Iraq and stationed around the world. Our troops are living and fighting in conditions that we at home can only imagine, so we must keep them in our hearts and prayers. Those who have chosen to serve represent the best and brightest our nation has to offer, and I am proud to have them representing us in the world.
Remember that holidays come and go, but our veterans are here with us every day. Recognize their service and thank them every chance you have. They have given so much for all of us. On behalf of my family, I would like to say thank you to all of our veterans and servicemen and women, and wish everyone a safe and happy Veterans Day.
