Karen Kremers introduced the speaker, Paul Gonzales, the director, editor, writer and narrator of the movie “Scum,” which was made in Beeville. Gonzales is a graphic artist at the Bee-Picayune. He started making movies at the age of seven. He told the club that the scum in the movie title is really soap scum but that didn’t sound very scary. He has been invited to submit his movie to the Toronto After Dark Film Festival. The movie should be ready for screening next week.
The club has been asked by Michelle Wright of the Main Street Committee to decorate a Christmas tree. Karen Kremers reminded members that the next meeting will be at the Berclair Mansion. It is an open meeting. Members will be called by Thanksgiving so the mansion can get an accurate head count. The meal will be $15 a person and catered by the Beeville Art Association.
Announcements made included Debbie Parsons having MD Anderson cards and ornaments available for sale and Lena Mary Lacy’s reminder of the San Antonio Symphony concert at A.C. Jones High School. Also mentioned was the raffle to benefit the Rialto with tickets at $5 each for a necklace and earrings donated by Darla Nordstrom and the Turkish rug sale at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church.
