The Three Rivers Chamber of Commerce is seeking names of shut-ins and citizens who do not drive so they can deliver a Christmas dinner to them on Sunday, Dec. 6, - the date of the community-wide Christmas Dinner. “We want to make sure that everyone that wants a holiday meal will get one,” Lloyd Grubbs, president of the chamber, said. The food will be delivered by the Three Rivers Volunteer Fire Department.

The chamber is making preparations to feed approximately 1,200 from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at the Student Activity Center at Three Rivers High School. The meal is a traditional holiday feast of turkey, dressing, vegetables and hot rolls. Desserts are furnished by Three Rivers churches.

Grubbs emphasized that everyone is invited to come and enjoy the food and fellowship. “This has become a community tradition and we are pleased to be able to do it for the 19th year. This is one way we can thank the citizens of Three Rivers for their support of the local businesses,” he said. The dinner is made possible through the support of First State Bank, the Valero - Three Rivers Refinery, Shamrock Federal Credit Union and First National Bank. FCI - Three Rivers inmates will assist with the preparation and serving of the meal and clean-up.

The Three Rivers High School Choir will perform during the dinner.

Anyone knowing a shut-in who would like a meal should call the Chamber of Commerce office at 786-4330 or e-mail their name to trchamber@threeriverstx.org.
