Sheriff Robert Bolcik reported calls went through dispatch from Aug. 10 to Aug. 16.

The sheriff’s department responded to calls; the Refugio Police Department, ; state troopers; medics,; Woodsboro marshal, ; animal control, ; Refugio VFD, ; and Tivoli VFD, .

• Hit and run

On Nov. 8, at 6:57 p.m. a caller reported a hit and run was reported at Haertig’s in Woodsboro. According to the report, a blue two-tone pickup was seen headed towards Refugio. No further information was given.

• Warning

A female Tivoli resident called the sheriff’s department to report the person who drove through her yard on Nov. 7.

Deputy Phillip Ruiz was dispatched to the residence.

The suspect was contacted and advised not to drive through the yard and to keep it off the roadway because it didn’t have current registration or tags.

• Controlled substance

A man was arrested on Nov. 7 and accused of possession of a controlled substance.

At 1:21 a.m. Deputy Daniel Beltran initiated a traffic stop but was denied consent to search the vehicle.

A white round pill was found, which was identified as methadone, a controlled substance.

The male subject was taken to Refugio County Jail and his vehicle was impounded.

• Mental subject

Officers were dispatched to Pugh Street in Woodsboro at 6:34 p.m. on Nov. 6 to investigate a report that a male suspect was stabbing the walls.

The man also allegedly threatened to suffocate his grandma and spit on her.

The male subject was taken to Spohn Memorial Hospital complaining that he couldn’t walk and that his heart was hurting.

• Threatening customer

Sgt. Ricardo Adame and Deputy Stacey Allen were dispatched to Bayside Grocery on Nov. 2 to investigate an employee’s complaint that she felt threatened by a customer over a storage space that the customer rents.

The male subject left the store.

• DWI arrest

Woodsboro Police Chief John Pope arrested a Woodsboro man for driving while intoxicated during a traffic stop on Oct. 30 at 10:44 p.m. on Wranosky Road. According to the officer’s report the man failed the field sobriety test and was taken to Refugio County Jail.

• Possible runaway

During a traffic stop, Deputy Danny Beltran received word from dispatch that the subject was reported as a runaway from Brownsville.

Contact with the mother was made, according to the report and the mother said the runaway report had been filed a year ago and the child had been home since.

The parent was required to notify Brownsville authorities to send administrative paper work advising that the juvenile can be released.

The female subject was issued a citation and was released.

• Disturbance

Deputies Shelly Haertig and Jeff Raymond were dispatched to Burton Street in reference to a 911 hang-up. According to the report a female subject requested an officer at her residence when she reported her boyfriend was destroying all her furniture.

Everyone at the residence was asleep when he showed up causing a scene, according to reports. The male subject was located in the ally where the 911 call came from.

• DWI arrest

On Nov. 1, the Refugio Sheriff’s Department had a call of a reckless driver in a black Ford Ranger entering Refugio.

Deputy DuQualis Farrow initiated the stop in the Burger King parking lot for failure to signal before turning. According to the officer’s report the officer could smell a strong odor of alcohol on the male subject’s breath.

The male subject failed to pass the alcohol sobriety field test and was taken to Refugio County Jail.
