Beeville recorded three good games against two 5A teams along with a top 4A club and played well but not good enough to capture a win.
“It still was a good tournament for us. We played some tough teams and made a run at them in all three contests,” said coach Abel Barrera.
The opening round had the Trojans facing the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Bears. The Trojans pulled close late but the Bears held on for a 55-43 victory.
Game two saw the Trojans facing the Edinburg North Cougars. The 31-5A club had all they could handle with the Trojans but they did put down the last shot for a close, 57-55 win.
The final game of the weekend had the Beeville boys on the court with the Mission Veterans Patriots. The final was an 11-point win for the Valley team as the Trojans kept pace but could not muster a final run to close the gap.
The Trojans will compete in the Tuloso-Midway “Pride of Texas” tournament this weekend.
