One of the Beeville Rotary Club’s guest speakers for the month of November was Al Past, who introduced his new book “Distant Cousin-Regeneration.”

He is a retired English and linguistics professor from Coastal Bend College and author of the popular Distant Cousin series of four novels. Interested readers can go to http://www.anadarcy.blogspot.com.

The Nov. 11 meeting honored the local Rotary veterans. Each gave a recounting of their service time. Rotarians sincerely showed gratitude and appreciation for their time and service.

Alex Kibler presented the statistics of firearms control in other states and countries. For example, England has banned firearms and the crime rate has increased. Kibler expanded on our Second Amendment of the 1791 Bill of Rights, the right of the people to keep and bear arms. The National Rifle Association was granted a charter by the state of New York in 1871. The NRA offers training, educational and public service programs that foster safe, responsible ownership and use of firearms.

Visitors included Juliette Manaud, exchange student from France, and Michelle Wright was inducted as a new Rotary member.
