The varsity wasted no time showing the alumni who was in charge. The Lady Cat offense scorched the nets with 18 first quarter points while the defense shut down the alumni with just seven markers.
The second stanza was much the same as the shooting eye of the alumni ladies was not what it used to be. The score at the half was all varsity at 30-12.
The second half was a closer affair as the alumni began to play some “D” and also began hitting a shot here and there. The varsity managed to extend their lead to 41-20 going into the fourth quarter. Both teams hit for 10 points over the final eight minutes.
The alumni ladies were led by Hannah Hardin with nine points. Alexis Schmidt followed with six. Emily Mengers, Ashley Scott and Devon Wilder contributed four points each in the contest. Courtney Vandever sank two points and Ashley Laechlin converted one free throw.
Other members of the alumni team included Kristy Hudson, Sagan Gabbert and Sarah Mengers.
The varsity girls were led by the 12 points from Rachel Mengers. Celina Acosta was also in double figures with 10. D’Anne Wilder hit three long-range jumpers for nine points. Brittany Garza and Jennifer Pueblo (two treys) each supplied six. Samantha Minter hit one jumper from beyond the arc for three tallies. Amber Hughlett and Tabatha Crow each contributed two points and Kathy Acosta had one free throw to complete the S-T scoring.
