U.S. Rep. Rubén Hinojosa (TX-15) co-sponsored the “Comprehensive Immigration Reform for America’s Security and Prosperity” Act of 2009 (CIR A.S.A.P.).

“I come from immigrant grandparents who came to Texas 100 years ago. I know firsthand the contributions immigrants make to our great nation,” Hinojosa said. “Immigration reform has taken the slow road until now. We stand united and ready to make the changes that will make this country stronger.”

The bill will protect workers, keep families together and promote our national security, he said.

“This bill is the product of months of collaboration with immigrant advocates, labor organizations, and members of Congress,” Hinojosa said. I am looking forward to The bill was introduced by Illinois Congressman Luis V. Gutierrez.

Here's the link.

I haven't found anything that would be objectionable yet, but haven't finished reading the summary.

http://www.immigrationpolicy.org/just-facts/summary-comprehensive-immigration-reform-americas-security-and-prosperity-act-2009

You have to download a .pdf to read it.

I suggest people post the offensive parts of the bill for discussion purposes.

Welcome to the fray lprocky.

While some just get up on a soapbox and rant the republican talking points, I'm glad to see our representative co-sponsoring a bill that will hopefully deal with immigration issues in a comprehensive manner, just like the title says.

It is not a clear cut issues, despite what the GOP talking heads say. Undocumented workers were the backbone of the labor pool used by businesses in Texas for decades - and they were underpaid and abused. No one said a word about sending them back then. When it became an issue, a Republican President signed the Amnesty into law. I agree with LadyTexan on one thing - the bill should be posted online - and it is likely that it is somwhere - before we all go off ranting and raving like we actually know what the bill proposes.

But lack of knowledge won't stop certain GOP koolaid drinkers from thinking they know EVERYTHING and that it is all the fault of the new administration, right?

Lprocky;

Yes, well it is glaring evident you voted for the current administration.

I really must thank you for that post, it encapsulates everything I have been pointing out about those that voted for obammie and crew and why this country is in grave peril.

HAVE A GOP DAY!!!

It sounds like everyone in this room needs some water to cool off and especially to was off the mode from your eyes so that you can see clearly. You've voiced your individual opinion with great animosity and fully ignore that the congressmen that you're addressing your opposition to was choosen by the people of New York and for that, he is fully qualified in my book to voice his professional politian view on the matter.

Let us go back hundred years ago and imagine that the immigrant didn't brake our Native Indian's laws and stayed away from our land, WHERE WOULD BE BY NOW? America was formed to be a land of free and land of the brave. We will both be turned into dust and even our grandchildren too before any overcrowded occurs in this vast land. We need to be very considerable in this matter and think beyond your toes and perhaps take away any animosity spirit from you to give a fair go for these people.

Democrat, Republican, independent, libertarian. Understand this. We don't care.

Political parties are meaningless to us. Patriotic Americans are willing to do

right by us and our Constitution and that is all that matters to us now. We are

going to fire all of you who abuse power and seek more. It is not your power. It

is ours and we want it back. We entrusted you with it and you abused it. You are

dishonorable. You are dishonest. As Americans we are ashamed of you. You have

brought shame to us. If you are not representing the wants and needs of your

constituency loudly and consistently, in spite of the objections of your party,

you will be fired. Did you hear? We no longer care about your political parties

You need to be loyal to us, not to them. Because we will get you fired and they

will not save you. If you do or can represent me, my issues, my views, please

stand up. Make your identity known. You need to make some noise about it. Speak

up I need to know who you are. If you do not speak up, you will be herded out

with the rest of the sheep and we will replace the whole damn congress if need

be one by one. We are coming. Are we coming for you? Who do you represent? What

do you represent? Listen. Because we are coming. We the people are coming.

The 1986 amnesty was a heinous failure! Never again! Rep. Hinojosa, you have made your bed.

We have already tried amnesty in 1986--and what happened? WE GOT MORE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS! I am so sick of hearing about how we have to give these people citizenship and how they have to stay.

THEY BROKE IN THE FRICKIN COUNTRY WHAT IS SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND ABOUT THIS???? THEY HAVE NOT FOLLOWED THE LAWS BY EITHER BREAKING IN OR OVERSTAYING THEIR VISAs (GUESTS)!

Arizona and more specific Maricopa County and Phoenix have proven that when laws are enforced the illegal aliens leave on their own. You do not reward those that do not follow the laws. I am also sick of hearing some say "we offer no legal way". Really? We take over 1 million legal immigrants a year.

If we wish to take no one that is up to our nation not up to outsiders--it is a little thing called "sovereignty". Again our country decides who is allowed in and who is not--not foreigners.

This IDIOT Rubén Hinojosa is looking out for those of his race and takes all of us for idiots! He erases the line of those that follow the laws (immigrants) and those that do not (illegal immigrants). I ask him what laws can I break as a US citizen and have the Feds look the other way on like they do on illegal immigration?

The American people are angry VERY ANGRY and we will not allow this while over 10% of citizens are out of work! This man should not be in office and you people in Texas that elect him in need your heads checked! Millions out of work and this idiot is more concerned about those that should not even be here in the first place...what is the matter with the voters?

This is the time to wreak anger and frustration on the politicians at 202-224-3121 who are adamant on killing E-Verify. This is one partial section of the SAVE ACT, 287 (g) the police illegal immigrant detainment law and stop the radical Comprehensive Immigration Reform package about to overwhelm us. Mayor R. Rex Parris of Lancaster, Calif., located about 60 miles north of Los Angeles, the first city in California requiring the city's businesses to verify the eligibility of its new hires using E-Verify. The AMNESTY law is a prerequisite to give every illegal alien in the United States a right to our menial health care, their sons and daughters to steal your child's education future, to take the low skilled Americans jobs. If the AMNESTY passes it will be incredulous disaster to the 15 plus American job seekers. It seems intentional not to keep actual numbers, but it is reasonable to believe that 8 million foreign nationals out of 20 to 30 million illegal families already have employment.

Should AMNESTY pass the Obama government knows that E-Verify will become void, as will 287 (G) police federal enforcement training law.WE MUST STOP ANY AMNESTY AND ENACT E-VERIFY AS A MANDATORY NATIONAL FEDERAL LAW. THROW ANY POLITICIAN OUT INCLUDING SEN. HARRY REID, SPEAKER PELOSI, CHUCK SCHUMER and any other lawmaker who are signatories to AMNESTY. Taxpayer money will be used to pay for massive processing of background checks, FBI investigation and paper documentation from here to the Sun and back. With such massive taxpayers expenditures, it would easily pay for a real barrier as planned by Rep.Duncan Hunter (R-CA), as a double fence across America.

DEPORT USING E-VERIFY EVERY ILLEGAL FAMILY AND OFFER LEGAL IMMIGRANTS ON THE HIGHEST PINNACLE OF JOB SKILLS A VISA. ONLY APPROVE GUEST WORKER WHO WILL STAY ON THE FARMS, WITH NO PERMANENT RESIDENCY VISA AND MUST RETURN TO THEIR COUNTRY OF ORIGIN. AMERICAN TAXPAYER CANNOT AFFORD TO SUPPORT ILLEGAL FOREIGN NATIONAL ANYMORE OR FAMILIES.

In addition once legitimized the old folks Social Security pensions will be in jeopardy and even more government benefits will be handed out, then have not already been tapped. Regular Americans have no conception the amount of entitlements already available to birthright citizen parents, such as housing, food stamps and financial arrangements, that are intentionally hidden from public view. MILLIONS MORE WILL TRY TO REACH AMERICAN SOIL, BEFORE OBAMA SIGNS THE FINAL LAW. No American needs to be confronted by unsustainable OVERPOPULATION of 458 million in forty years according to the US Census Bureau. Census Bureau reported this week that the U.S. population has increased by 1% in 2009, adding another 2.6 million people. According to the bureau, the population is now 308,400,408, and the 2009 increase is due to an increase in births, amounting to a new American every 14 seconds.

Many states are falling into the same financial hole as the SANCTUARY STATE of California, Arizona, with liberal overcrowded assemblies giving illegal immigrants a large spectrum of taxpayers money. USE YOUR VOTE TO STOP THIS INSANITY? YOU WILL--NOT--FIND THE TRUTH IN THE NATIONAL PRESS, BUT MUST FIND YOUR ANSWERS AT NUMBERSUSA AND JUDICIAL WATCH

Hinojosa is out of touch with reality. Supporting an amesty and this is all this Bill is, is not in the best interests of the United States.

As an immigrant, I went through a prolonged, expensive process before being granted a Visa.

This process included a background check including permission to release to the [then] I.N.S., my country's file Police file [criminal et al].

I had to undergo a thorough medical examination at my cost which included a chest x-ray [mainly for TB] and blood test including a test for HIV.

Then, once all the paperwar and medicals were received by the local U.S. Embassy, I had to fly at my expense on a given date, to attend the Embassy for an interview at which time, either I would receive the visa or not - in this case, it was a fiance visa as I was marrying an American.

Once granted, I had 6 months in which to enter the U.S. and a total of 90 days to be married or be deported.

After being married, I had to apply for a change in status. At that hearing, the INS officer informed me that if we were not married at the end of the two year conditional period, I would be facing 'the long plane trip back'.

After two years of being a conditional permanent resident, I then had to apply for the conditions to be removed and yet again, another interview!

At each step i.e. application,it cost $.

I doubt any amnesty deal will cost as much as what we paid!

Finally I was able to take Citizenship of which I am very proud!

What annoys me is the former illegal woman who married a local and became legalized, is receiving Social Security medical [her husband is elderly and disabled] yet over an 8 year period, I have been constantly refused any assistance for my disability despite having paid into the tax system!

I do not see why when so many people who have come to America the illegal way, should have legal residency handed to them on a plate which is what Hinojosa et al want.

No background checks, no medical checks, no nada to get to the U.S.

Hinojosa needs voting out of office at the next election.

The first thing in any immigration reform is amnesty. And exactly how would this bill promote national security as he states? And before people come on here and start yelling "racists" because of these comments, I am hispanic. I'm also a taxpayer.

Now they are going to urge another travesty of COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION REFORM OR "AMNESTY." on the overtaxed American people. It almost defies any rational logic for these morons introducing immigration reform, when 15 million Americans are out scouting for a job. Due to neglect of decades of pandering politicians to non-enforcement of our undermanned, poorly constructed border fence or the 1986 immigration law. It is my decision to pas it along to all readers, otherwise it may not get the necessary publicity to show the disintegration of a society, culture and even our language. Its almost incomprehensible that University professors would abet and condone illegal immigration with designing GPS systems, making it easier for illegal immigrants to steal American jobs. But then the majority that are teaching the Students are Liberal-Marxist, left wingers.

These people must live in a bubble that think illegal immigrants do not have an impact on American citizens.

You have watched an economy tank, with outlandish reasoning, but no one is talking about the facts:

The main serious issue is irreversible Overpopulation:

It is imperative that we realize that if we keep on allowing the importation of foreign nationals on the scale that is happening today. The consequences as stated by the [United States Population Projections: 2000 to 2050 by Jennifer M. Ortman and Christine E. Guarneri of the Census Bureau]“… a greater number of migrants arriving in the United States will correspond to a larger increase in the size of the total population. Under the assumption of a high level of net international migration, the population is expected to grow to 458 million by 2050. … “ The the late U.S. Senator Teddy Kennedy, the United States added 100 million to its population via immigration. Before that time, we enjoyed 194 million in 1963. Today, we slog forward with 309 million on our way to 438 million in four decades, said Frosty Wooldridge, an acknowledged columnist. Poverty and hunger is rampant now in America, with shortages of drinking water and electricity outages are our dismal future, if we don't halt illegal immigration. For the record thousands of Vietnam warriors are homeless, veterans of other wars , fatherless Mothers with children and Senior citizens on low income, worrying about sharing their pitiful pensions with Bush's Social Security funds, that are on-hold for totalization with the corrupt government South of the border.

1. Emergency room closures

a) There was once a superb safety net for emergency healthcare to indigent Americans, that has dried up in many communities, because the hospitals could not afford to service them any longer, some would have us believe that illegal immigration had nothing to do with it, when hundreds and thousands of undocumented residents flooded the doors, and in many cases as a source of primary care.

b) American born women under the age of 50 are no longer offered mammograms because of the cost, even though it is factual that more women under the age of 50 are being detected with suspicious findings, but rather then taking illegal residents off the rolls of CDP and other grants to detection, they cut off Americans.

2. Welfare

The vast majority of illegal parents to citizen children, flock to another safety net dedicated to protecting Americans from physical and financial detriment, where billions of dollars flow in, and do not circulate in the US because many of the dollars are shipped to their native countries to support the poor people there. Huge numbers of illegal immigrants file tax returns using phony Social Security numbers to cash in on the federal Earned Income Tax Credit, thanks to lax government management said Ed Rubenstein, a financial analyst and economist. "As a result, illegal aliens actually receive the EITC at even greater rates than legal immigrants,. The IRS makes little or no effort to verify the authenticity of Social Security numbers, or existence of Dependant children. This makes it possible for illegal immigrants to claim children still living in Mexico as dependents and for parents living illegally in the U.S. to file separate returns claiming the same children as dependents under the EITC. The EITC was created to boost work incentives for poor families with children. Childless households received a maximum $438 payment in 2008, while the maximum available to families with two or more children was $4,824. From a distance, the EITC looks like a winner,” he said. “The devil is in the details. For starters, the program is dominated by fraud. Illegal immigrant households are more than three times as likely to receive EITC than native-born American households." Rubenstein said

3. Education

American children that should be preparing for the global competitive market, are being held back educationally because primary education is now catering to bring children that are further behind up to speed. Class room overcrowding, results in the hiring of under staffed, under qualified teachers to manage a baby sitting sector rather than educating.

4. Housing

The media did not cover the facts that thousands of illegal immigrants owned homes that went into the red, and they were allowed to simply walk away, while Americans in the same situation had to undergo financial ruin, bankruptcy, and other unfortunate situation. Non profits and other organizations like NACA helped these people get in the door, and tax payers are footing the bill.

5. Infrastructure

With any degree of logic, any individual will understand, if you design a freeway, bridge, building, house, etc. designed to support a certain number of people, will accelerates structure corrosion, if you add more abundantly. Place your attention on the History International TV cable channel. Starting this week , they are showing "THE CRUMBLING OF AMERICA" .Our country is 12 trillion dollars in debt, because we support the rest of the world. Our nation is progressively turning into a third world ghetto and no longer a creditor nation.

6. Traffic

What used to take Americans a few minutes to get to and from work, has been doubled if not tripled which takes quality time from families, drives up cost of oil, and gasoline, because of the buy and demand nature of business, adds more pollution to the air, and reduces spending in local shops because of the time lost.

7. Crime

The cost of housing convicted non citizens would have paid for the border fence twice, added more border personnel on the northern and southern borders to boot. which would be an added protection considering America is a marked nation.

ID theft, is the number one violation, because it defrauds the federal government when non existent socials are in play, and drastically affects the quality of life for Americans that are victimized, because there is no legislation to protect American citizens from the consequences of the governments failure to protect them from collection agencies, dept collectors, credit card companies that did not have secure networks, and the social security administration that did not flag socials used twice or more times for employment, which pays more on the back end. Even I was--NOT --Immune to ID theft, as somebody in Dallas Texas was using my Social at a some kind of private investigative office. I contacted the SSA passing on these details, so they could clear up this mess.

8. Assimilation

Many illegal immigrants have no desire to assimilate with American culture, I mean look at Mr. Gutierrez, who fights harder for the rights non citizens then he does for his native constituents. Many fly non American flags, which is a basic slap in the face to Americans that would support reform otherwise.

9. English

Our elected officials have turned a deaf ear to Americans that are blatantly being discriminated against when companies policy hiring bilingual only employees, there are only too populations of citizens in America that are allowed this unfortunate bias, ex-cons, and non dual language speaking Americans.

10. Wages

How many reports do you need, before you realize many unscrupulous employers are using the illegal alien situation to drive down wages and benefits? How many small contractors have been undercut in bids for jobs, only to find that their competitor is using foreign labor?

To every elected officials that puts a greater onus on protecting the non legal rights of non citizens above the legal rights of Americans are in the wrong business, and should consider in the ethical reasoning of national security, populous representation, simply because it was the populous that sent you to office to represent their best interest, to step down, seek office in your hearts respective country, and allow individuals with the same passion you have for your people, to represent Americans with the same tenacity.

Thank you Mario for this fact sheet, along with my contributions. Tell everybody you know who condemns any possibility of forcing on the American people another AMNESTY, to call their ignorant lawmaker. The Capitol Switchboard's telephone number is 202-224-3121. REMEMBER TO SEND IN YOUR 28Cent POSTCARDS NOW! WE MUST DEFEAT THIS IMMIGRATION REFORM PACKAGE. Those who believe in America’s survival, without OVERPOPULATION as stated by the US Census bureau better read facts at NUMBERSUSA not the lies spawned by open border entities. Those who want details of corruption in WASHINGTON and state government go to JUDICIAL WATCH. Overpopulation, traffic chaos, infrastructure erosion should go to CAPSWEB.

so, what all is in this bill? is it for legal immigration ?? is it for illegal immigration?

Rep. Hinojosa has never been to my town to hear what our residents want... ever.

Unless we close the borders completly I doubt this bill will do anything to make "our" country stronger, as stated by Rep. Hinojosa.

sounds like code for "amnesty"????

Post the bill on this site and let us see it.
