Taylor Thompson wins Overall Grand Champion at Live Oak County 2010 Pig Out

Three Rivers 4-H club started the new year by sponsoring a swine prospect show on Saturday, Jan. 2.

The Live Oak County 2010 Pig Out started with the showmanship judging at 9 a.m. Results were: Pee Wees: Micah Davis Pawnee 4-H; Juniors: Jeremiah Ferrell GW 4-H; Seniors: Peyton Landford Portland 4-H.

Swine judging followed at 10 a.m. Results were: Duroc-Grand: Kolter Hughes TR Young Feeders Reserve: Shelly Gertram Buda 4-H; Hampshire- Grand: Cason Newberry GW FFA; Reserve: Quest Newberry GW FFA; York-Grand: Ashley Burdock Portland 4-H; Reserve: Quest Newberry George West FFA.

Other Pure Breeds- Grand: Jeffrey Hardwick GW FFA; Crossbred- Grand: Taylor Thompson GW 4-H; Reserve: Quest Newberry GW FFA.

Overall Grand Champion: Taylor Thompson; Overall Reserve Champion: Quest Newberry. The official judge was Philip Shackelford, County Extension Agent from Austin County. Prizes awarded for Grand and Reserve Swine were belt buckles.

First place received a swine feed trough, second place received a swine feed bucket, and third place received a show clip. Three Rivers 4-H club representatives said they greatly appreciate the sponsors of the Second Annual Pig Out as well as the Adult leaders and Pct. 2 Commissioner Donna Mills for announcing at the show. Without these sponsors the Pig Out would not be possible.
