What a disgrace we have brought upon ourselves by allowing these wind machines to be placed all over coastal South Texas!

The Kenedy Ranch and Portland / Sinton are now covered with these enormous structures. Live Oak County is now being surveyed and is next on the list. Large wind farms are also being planned in the gulf between Port A and Brownsville.

Wind farms require massive government subsidies to make them economically viable, which is paid for by our tax dollars. The wind corporations reap the benefit.

Wind farms destroy the unique beauty of the Texas coast. Where we once had clear views of sunrises and sunsets, now we see hundreds of wind towers.

South Texas is a major migratory pathway for millions of songbirds on their bi-annual migration to and from South and Central America. Most songbirds migrate at night and at low altitudes placing them directly in the blades. Resident shorebirds are also at great risk as are ducks and geese. Imagine what one of these blades will do to an egret, goose or heron.

These tax subsidized mostly foreign corporations don’t have the right to kill birds that belong to all of us. Visual pollution, habitat destruction and the slaughter of birds will hurt a thriving coastal eco-tourism industry. This is going to cost us economically and aesthetically.

How much more are we going to give away in the name of bogus green energy and economic development ?
