The Rosetta Club met Jan. 14 at the Beeville Country Club. Officers present were President Jackie Hughes, Second Vice President Jodi Huegler, Corresponding Secretary Margie Awalt, Treasurer Liz Dehnert and Recording Secretary Patty Alexander.

The meeting began with the president thanking the hostesses and Ann Kimbrough leading the group in prayer for the Haitian earthquake victims. One guest, Patta Reed from Grand Junction, Colo., was welcomed.

Tom Ginter, the new Beeville city manager, was the speaker and was introduced by Laura Fischer. Ginter updated the club with news about Beeville water tanks and water treatment center and the Main Street project. It was decided to paint the water tank the same color and not paint it orange or maroon as some had suggested. A survey for a master plan for Beeville parks was also distributed.

New members Melissa Hughes, Meredith McKnight and Brenda Treviño were introduced and Ann Kimbrough spoke of the Senior Citizen Project. This project purchases and donates specific items to each of three senior citizen homes through collections taken at meetings.

Various reports and announcements were made and Patti Huehn’s resignation was reluctantly accepted.

Jimmy Jackson was announced as the winner of the Joe Barnhart Bee County Library fundraiser. He won a one-week stay at the Ixtapan Spa and Golf Resort in Mexico.

Members were reminded of the upcoming Ladies Night Out, a fundraiser for Christus Spohn Hospital, on Feb. 16 and the Ladies House Committee all-male jewelry fashion show sponsored by Hogue’s Jewelry at the Beeville Country Club on Feb. 11.

The next meeting of the Rosetta Club will be Feb. 11 at the Beeville Country Club.
