“The girls played extremely well against Bloomington. It is great that we can rebound, after losing a game, and play a good game,” said S-T head coach Joseph Grimes III.
“The girls out-hustled Bloomington and created some easy shots for themselves.”
The tempo of the contest was set in the first quarter as the local ladies raced to a 15-6 margin. The S-T defense fed the offense and the Lady Cats held a 27-12 margin at the half.
The Lady Cats put the game away in the third period by outscoring the visitors 20-9 to lead 47-21 entering the final period. The final was a 20-point win and the S-T girls ran their record to 15-10 on the year and 4-1 in district play.
“Right now we are sitting good in the standings heading into the second round of district,” said Grimes.
Brittany Garza led the scoring for the Skidmore ladies with 16 points. Celina Acosta followed with 14. Jennifer Pueblo sank six and D’Anne Wilder added five points. Rachel Mengers, in limited action, had four points as did Amber Hughlett. Tabatha Crow finished with three and Samantha Minter supplied two points.
The S-T girls were at Refugio on Tuesday night and will host Odem on Friday evening.
