Claire Duge and Kyle Wright are performing tests on a water sample while other members of the A.C. Jones High School Aquatic Science class observe.
In an effort to preserve the health of the people of Bee County and to expand the students’ knowledge of water safety, the class will be performing tests to determine the quality of the local water.
The aquatics science class requests that citizens bring in a sample of their tap or well water. The class will then run the appropriate tests and provide the owner with a complete report on its contents.
If you would like the aquatic science class to test your water, starting Feb. 7, please take a quart-sized sample to A.C. Jones Attendance Office along with a self-addressed envelope.
The class would truly appreciate the community’s contribution to this research. Water samples will be tested for phosphate, dissolved oxygen, ph, nitrates, salinity and alkalinity.
Sadie Rodriguez, lab manager for the class, says, “It is important that we do tests on the water to inform the public about what exactly they are consuming and to broaden our knowledge along with simply having more samples for testing. We will fill out a report sheet and send it back to the person that brings in the water sample in their self-addressed envelope.”
