The Bee County Historical Commission has received approval for a Texas Historical Commission marker honoring Barnard Elliott Bee Sr., for whom Bee County is named. The marker will be placed in front of the Bee County Courthouse and there will be a ceremony and a reception.

We need the help of the community. The Friends of the Bee County Historical Commission are requesting donations from local businesses and individuals to help defray the cost of the marker which is $1,500. This marker will be presented and unveiled to the public on the courthouse lawn in a ceremony. Those making contributions of $50 or more will receive a lighted replica of the Bee County Courthouse and will be recognized in the program.

This is a memorable and lasting marker for Bee County and one we feel you will be proud to have supported.

Please send your contribution to Friends of Bee County Historical Commission, P.O. Box 4422, Beeville, TX 78104 or drop off your contribution at the office of Anna Marie Silvas, district clerk, on the third floor of the courthouse in Room 304. Please make checks payable to Friends of Bee County Historical Commission prior to our deadline of March 1. All contributions are tax deductible.

Thank you for your support.

Anna Marie Silvas, Secretary
