This year will mark the 90th anniversary of the chartering of Peace Lutheran Church, which was located at the corner of Jefferson and Clare streets. Peace Lutheran Church was the founding congregation for members of the old American Lutheran Church and was one of two congregations that voted in 1976 to merge an American Lutheran Church congregation and a Lutheran Church Missouri Synod into one new Lutheran Church. Subsequently, land was purchased for the new Faith Church, the current building was built and the two previous properties sold to two interested churches of other denominations.
The celebration will begin with worship at 9 a.m. on Sunday, continue with Sunday school time or visiting, share in a potluck meal, and then in the afternoon beginning at 1 p.m. there will be a time for reminiscing and an Old Fashioned Gospel Hymn Sing. The day will close with sharing an anniversary cake and coffee.
Former members of Trinity Lutheran of Beeville, Peace Lutheran of Beeville, Our Savior’s Lutheran of Normanna, St. Paul’s Lutheran of Berclair, or even Faith Lutheran Church are invited to come and join in this special occasion, marking 90 years of Lutheranism in Beeville.
