Coastal Bend College will host events on Feb. 24 and 25 in observance of African-American History Month.

Wednesday’s event will take place in the James R. Dougherty Student Center (SUB) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event, featuring poet Hope Aldridge, Rev. Eric Tarver of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Beeville and Sounds of Motor City, a Motown presentation, is open to the public.

Sounds of the Motor City is a musical revue reminiscent of the Motown-era and Civil Rights Movement. The performance includes the soulful sounds of Jackie Wilson, Otis Redding and Isaac Hayes.

For more information about this event, contact Roxanne Aguirre at 354-2721 or raguirre@coastalbend.edu.

On Thursday, a luncheon is scheduled for 12:30-1:30 p.m. at CBC Lott-Canada Facility at 900 W. Corpus Christi St. (Highway 59). The topic to be presented by Rev. Tarver is Overcoming Barriers to Education: The African-American Perspective. RSVP at CBC Lott-Canada Facility or contact Mary Perez at 362-2633 or mperez@coastalbend.edu.
