Mayor proclaims Betty Kinsel Day

Whereas, on the 25th day of Feb., 1924, birth was given to Betty Damon Batson Kinsel in Greenville, South Carolina; her parents being Otis Batson and Mary Damon Batson. Her siblings are Harry Batson (brother) and Doris (Pug) Akin (sister). Betty moved to Three Rivers as a young giri with her Uncle Walter and Aunt Mildred Finkbiner. The Finkbiners came to Three Rivers to open a glass factory; and

Whereas, after graduation from Three Rivers High School, Betty attended the University of Tennessee - University of Texas (masters degree) and Trinity University; and

Whereas, after receiving her college degree, Betty began her long and successful career in education. She taught for 40 years in the Northeast ISD, San Antonio, in the elementary and high schools; and

Whereas, Betty has three sons Tom Cooley, Leonard Cooley and Harry Cooley (deceased), two grand daughters, one grandson and three great grand daughters (and another due in March); and

Whereas, when Betty attended the Three Rivers High School 50th year class reunion, she and Bob Kinsei rekindled their friendship and were married two years later and her family grew to include Bob Kinsel, Jr., Mary Kaye Kinsel Lync and Novis Kinsel Harris; and

Whereas, Betty became actively involved in the Three Rivers community.

She is loved and respected by her friends, neighbors and family. Her outgoing personality and cheerful smile is contagious. She loves Three Rivers and is dedicated to her family, friends, church and community.

Be It Resolved By The Mayor Of Three Rivers, Texas.

That Feb. 25, 2010 be declared Betty Kinsel Day. Happy Birthday, Betty.
