The art is on exhibit at the Simon Michael Art Gallery on the Beeville campus. More than 60 pieces were entered in 11 categories judged by CBC’s art faculty.
Both Sarah Pena and Meghan Saunders earned top honors for their work.
Sarah won first for her work, ICU, in the mixed media category; and Meghan won first for The Duke, an ink drawing.
Meaghan and Sarah also took second place awards including Meagan’s watercolor, Aquamarine, and Sara’s ink drawing, Michael.
Crystal Nix won second in mixed media for Totum; and Kelli Andrade for her pastel, Determination.
Khiry Jones won two third-place awards including an ink drawing, Breath of Spring, and a pastel, Le Plein Air.
Crystal Nix also took third place honors for her acrylic painting, My Backyard.
Honorable Mention awards went to Kelli for an ink drawing, Smudgie; David Nix, for his watercolor, Mickey D; and Kaylynn Simmers for her watercolor, Accidents happen.
First, second, third and honorable mention honors were awarded in each section of the contest. One overall winner – best of show – was chosen.
The winners are considered for visual arts scholarships or dorm scholarships at Coastal Bend College.
