On Saturday, Dec. 6, several George West band students once again proved their musical skill at regional tryouts. The competition, held at San Diego ISD, was attended by approximately twenty school districts ranging from Refugio to the Rio Grande Valley.

The following GW high school band students made the region band: Elizabeth Cansino, Samantha Cantu, Lauren Cordani, Winston Daniels, Hannah Davis, Nicole Garza, Wesley Iley, Viviana Lopez, Zachory McAlister, Sara Reagan, Karen Rock, Mario Rodriguez, Luke Sehlke, Emily Snider and Joseph Gonzales as an alternate. Those students advancing to Area tryouts are: Samantha Cantu, Lauren Cordani, Winston Daniels, Wesley Iley, Zachory McAlister, and Karen Rock.

Around forty junior high students were in attendance, and those making region band are: Mary Cansino, Victoria Wasicek, Jessica Alonzo, Raye Bednorz, Katelyn Keach, Allison Bryce, Brittany Root, Kayla Cantu, Joseph Feist, Tyler Kerr, Avery Pawelek, Ally Guzman, Theo Gonzales, Marisol Santos, Paul Silvas, Caleb White, Anderson Daniels, Randy Garcia, Carley Little, Ella Lowrance, Ellen Nance, Michelle Smith, and Tiffany Martinez.

These talented musicians will join students from across the region to perform a concert on Saturday, Dec. 13, at Sinton High School. The concert begins at 7:00 p.m. and is free to the public.
