Robert Wayne Gillespie, 73, of Woodsboro died Wednesday, May 12, 2010. He was a farmer and rancher for 44 years and he served in the National Guard.

He was born in Woodsboro Nov. 21, 1936, to Wayne ”Buddy” and Mamie Gillespie.

He is preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother and sister, and his grandson, Jimmy Gillespie.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Janis Gillespie; two daughters, Paige and Laurie; one son, Kelly Gillespie; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Moore Funeral Home on Saturday, May 15, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 16, at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Woodsboro. Burial will be at LaRosa Cemetery

Pallbearers are Kelly Gillespie, Wayne Gillespie, Carl Hultgren, John Shipp, Nathan Thompson, Ricky Jessop, Pete Petropoulos, Frank Scanio III, Ray Cardwell, Robert Michael Thomas, David Murray II, and Toby Murray.

Honorary pallbearers are Leo White, Jerry Rooke, Mike Brown, Henry Neil Geistmann, Michael Burns, Calton Fricks, Juan Escobar, Johnny Nesloney, Truman Bland, Hubert Johnson, David Murray, Robbie Payne, Patrick Payne and Arlen Feuerbacher

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the South Texas Children’s Home.
