Tuesday night’s game for the Pettus Lady Eagles was pretty much decided after just one quarter. The Eagles went on to win in a breeze, 51-33, over the visiting Victoria Crossroads Home Educated Children’s Lady Cobras.

The Lady Eagles raced out to a 14-2 advantage after the first eight minutes. That lead was pushed to a 28-10 halftime margin as the Lady Eagles continued to play team ball.

“Everyone on the team contributed to the win. Everyone saw equal playing time and worked well with whatever player they were on the floor with,” said Lady Eagle head coach Darcy Siddon.

“The bench and younger players really stepped it up and contributed to the team effort.”

The final was 51-33 as the Lady Eagles continued to dominate in the second half. The defensive pressure eased in the latter stages of the fourth and the CHEC girls started hitting a few open shots.

The Lady Eagles used a balanced scoring attack with almost everyone dressed getting into the scorebook. Not one Pettus player reached double figures. Olivia De Los Santos recorded eight points while teammates Sarah Gill and Jessica Stanley hit for seven apiece. Tori Garza, Paige Fox and Hailee Schauer contributed six each. Chloe Garza added three steals and three assists while Adri DeLeon and Lindsay P. both contributed two points in the win.

The Eagle varsity teams are competing in the Nordheim Pirates’ tournament this weekend. The boys and the girls will be on the road for their two games next week. A Tuesday night meeting with Runge will be followed by a trip to Kenedy on Friday night.
