Herman Wentworth Jones, 89, of Beeville died on June 6, 2010.

Mr. Jones was born Nov. 24, 1920, in Anyox, British Columbia, to Herman Wentworth Jones, Sr. and Hilda Dewolf Jones. He proudly served his country in World War II in the U.S. Navy and worked 24 years for Celanese Corporation in Bishop. He moved to Beeville in 1998 and was a member of the First Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Hilda Jones, and his son, Lynn Hutchins.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Jones of Beeville; his children, Allan (Kelsey Menzel) Jones of San Antonio, Richard Jones of Austin, Janet (Mitchell) Birchfield of Uvalde, Gary Jones of California, Alyce (Wayne) Olson of LaVernia and Linda Hutchins of Beeville; caregiver, Shirley Talley; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors in Corpus Christi and from 6 to 8 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Beeville.

A graveside service was conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Beeville Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist or The Vineyard, 210 N. Monroe St., Beeville.
